Haarlem is more than just a shop - it’s a creative catalyst tucked away in the Derbyshire Dales.
The Haarlem shop, which sits on the town’s original Market Place, opened in the Spring 2024 and is run as a co-operative of makers, with each giving their time as well as their work.
It works side-by-side with Haarlem Studios and the Haarlem Artspace Gallery to create a vibrant, multi-faceted cultural hub, whilst celebrating the importance of the creative industries to our town and to champion Wirksworth as a cultural destination.
Wirksworth has transformed from a town built on lead mines and stone quarries, to a thriving community of artists, makers and creatives.
Haarlem Mill sits on the edge of town and since 2016 has been home to contemporary, mixed media, and visual artists, jewellers, weavers, writers, ceramicists, film makers and more.
Wirksworth’s Independent High Street
Wander through the archway of the Red Lion Hotel, and you’ll find yourself in the Haarlem Artspace Gallery - just above the Feather Star Alehouse.
With a year round programme of exhibitions and events it’s a fabulous and additional to the town’s cultural offer.
